James Lantz
Augusta, GA – James “Jim” Miles Lantz passed away at his home in North Augusta, South Carolina on the morning of June 3rd, 2017 at the age of 77. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Roscoe Sr. and Lillian and a grandson Dylan. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Jean Lantz (Hill).
Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 14th, 1939, the youngest of 4 children, he graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1957 and joined the United States Air Force later that same year. Jim honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1964 after 7 years of service to his country. After leaving the Air Force, Jim worked for Ford Motor Company for many years and eventually retired.
Jim moved to Pasco County, Florida in 1985 and lived out the majority of his retirement here. In 2016, Jim and his wife Barbara moved to North Augusta, South Carolina.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara; daughters Deborah (Randy) Gawne, Patricia (Charles) Gougeon, Cindi Quigley (Thomas Conwell); son Michael (Theresa) Lantz; grandchildren Logan, Kurtis, Kevin, Kody, Jennifer, Michael, Dana, Jake, and Ashleigh; and many great grandchildren.
Jim was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Air Force Veteran, motorcyclist, comedian, and believer in Jesus as his savior. Jim’s family lovingly remembers his wonderful Dad jokes, his ability to break out in song, his wonderful stories, inventions, and his love of watching old movies, sports, and listening to music.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son.
