Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, February 06, 2013, Mr. James M. Thigpen, 78, husband of Naomi Thigpen for 57 years.
Mr. Thigpen was a member of Abilene Baptist Church for the past 25 years and was a member of Joe Easler Sunday School Class. He was the Mechanical Service Manager at the Medical College of Georgia and retired after 30 years.
Family members include sons: James M. Thigpen (Debra) of Grovetown, Rodney M. Thigpen (Melinda) of Martinez; grandchildren: Rod, Jamie, Robert, Michael, Nicole Thigpen; 7 great grandchildren; and sister: Ellen Wren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Terry Doss and Dr. Brad Whitt officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rod Thigpen, Jr., Jamie Thigpen, Robert Thigpen, Michael Thigpen, Ronald Thigpen, Frank Thigpen, Mark Thigpen, and Tony Cornelius.
The family would like to thank University Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Abilene Baptist Church Building Fund, 3917 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.
