James was born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was raised in Wadley, Georgia. James was a member of Hill Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia class of 1969. He worked many years as a bank executive in the Augusta area, In his spare time James loved antiquing.

A Graveside service will be Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Bethany Cemetery, 208 East Smith Street, Wadley, GA.
