Augusta, GA - On April 30, 2023, James Howard Paschal Sr. heard and obeyed the call of his Master to come Home. He was born May 28, 1930, in Winfield, GA, to loving parents, Lloyd L. and Annie Laurie Griffin Paschal. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Julia W. Paschal; by two sons, James Howard “Jimmie” Paschal Jr. and Jerry C. Paschal (Rene); four granddaughters, April, Meagan, Samantha, and Elizabeth Rewis (Brandon); by three great-grandchildren, Alexander Weaver, Kassidy Rewis, and Preston Rewis; two brothers in law, John D. Pearson and Daniel Thornton (Vergie); sister in law, Edna Paschal; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray V. Paschal (Emma), Hubert L. Paschal (Kathryn Ann), Lee G. Paschal, William E. Paschal (Odell); sisters, Laurie P. Pearson, Elsie Grace P. Thornton, Ellen P. Thomas (R. C. Thomas); brother in law, Warren Whitaker (Judy); and a dear daughter in law, Wendy C. Paschal. He is also preceded in death by his loving father in law and mother in law, Marvin and Dixie Whitaker.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved all of his family dearly. He enjoyed gardening, softball, and baseball. He was a faithful servant and member of Warren Baptist Church for seventy years and served as deacon for many of those years, which he dearly loved.
He graduated from Leah High School. He was in sales and store management for fifty-nine years, thirty-two of which were at Otasco, where he retired from.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the dedicated, loving, and caring hospice nurses, caregivers, and staff for the wonderful care that they received during this time.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. and the funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. David McKinley and Rev. Dave Dillard officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907.
