James B Taylor
Grovetown, GA – James Benjamin Taylor, 83, loving husband of the late Merle Mutimer Taylor, entered into rest, Monday, June 19, 2017, at home.
Mr. Taylor was a native of Los Angeles, CA. While studying at the University of Nevada, he was drafted for the Vietnam Conflict and sent to Camp Gordon, as it was known then, for Boot Camp. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church while in Augusta and there he met his late wife. When he had completed his term of service, he returned to California where they were married.
Mr. Taylor returned to the University of Nevada, where he completed degrees in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and History. He then went to work in the Aerospace field working with NASA to send most of the Apollo Missions into space. When the Apollo program was complete, he returned to school to earn his Law degree. With his background in Engineering, he was qualified to sit the Patent exam and successfully passed. He practiced law until he retired, with his practice focused primarily in Real Estate and Bankruptcy.
Surviving family members are his daughters: Alyscia Jennifer Taylor; Aimee Taylor Buchanan and husband Bruce; grandsons: Taylor Buchanan, Bryson Buchanan; and cousin; G. Ronald Beaman.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Merle M Taylor or in honor of Alyscia J Taylor to the Miracle Mile Walk in care of University Health Care Foundation, 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D1, Augusta, GA 30904. Additionally, because Mr. Taylor believed in the value of donating blood, and had personally donated 60+ gallons in his lifetime, contributions may be made to the Shepeard Community Blood Center in memory of Mr. Taylor. The family will receive friends Saturday July 1, 2017, from 10 until Noon at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 5555 Hereford Farm Rd., Evans, GA 30809, in the Fellowship Hall. Please come join us in a celebration of his life.
The family will have a private burial at a later date.
