James "Tony" Wombles

James “Tony” Wombles Sr., 61, entered rest on September 7th, 2021 at his home in Martinez GA, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tony was born on February 27th, 1960. A native to Augusta GA, Tony was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (Pop). Tony fostered his love of work into the creation and management of Star Survey Inc. which operated for over 20 years in North Augusta. He devoted the past 12 years working as a dedicated Survey Engineer- Senior Party Chief at Plant Vogtle. He was an avid reader and loved the challenge of any puzzle, crossword, or riddle. He was the comedian of the family, sure to always bring a chuckle to any room he was in.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Wombles, his son, James Wombles Jr (Valerie Wombles), his daughters, Jenni Mobley (Brandon Mobley), Jordan Wombles-Feldhaus (Ethann Feldhaus), Jillian Wombles, his grandchildren, Brandt-Lee Mobley, Troy Mobley, Raelynn Mobley, Link Wombles, James ‘Anthony’ Wombles III, and Joseph Wombles as well as his brothers Ray and Mike Wombles. Tony was preceded in death by his parents Ann Bedenbaugh Barker and Jack Barker.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Pastor Mo Huggins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
