Entered into rest on January 23, 2023, Mrs. Jan Gay Munn, wife of the late Rev. Daniel M. Munn, Jr. Additional family members include her daughters, Susan M. Venable, Rebeccah M. Grady (Michael), and Erin M. Williams (Frank), all of Augusta; son, David H. Munn of Augusta. Grandchildren: Jessica E. Gonzalez (Matt Dahlheimer), Christopher D. Venable, MIchaelann G. Rountree ( Scott), Jane G. Pollock (Ed), Mary Beth Grady, Catherine K. Grady, Andrew M. Williams (Nicolette), Daniel M. Williams (Kerri), James M. Williams (Hailey), David O. Williams, Caroline F. Williams, Elizabeth G. Williams, Rosie T. Williams. Great-grandchildren: Lily Jan and Max Gonzalez; Mary Mathision, Charles, and Carey Rountree ; Grady, Eliza Jane, Win, and Ruth Pollock; Ellie, Charlotte, Lucy, Mary Kate and Leo Williams; Addie, Tobin, and Frank Williams; and lifelong family friend Mrs. Lillie Smiley.

Jan was born in Royston, GA, but grew up on a farm in Register, GA. She was a graduate of Wesleyan College, a Fulbright Scholar with a focus in French literature, and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in Education. She retired from the Richmond County School System, where she taught and worked as a Special Education Consultant. She was a scholar, educator, wife and mother: the heart and center of her family. She had great compassion toward those in need. As one grandchild described her: “She was one of our truest connections to pure and sanctifying love on this earth.”

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity on Friday January 27, 2023 at 2pm. A rosary will be prayed there at 6pm on Thursday, January 26th. There will be a prayer service following the Divine Liturgy at St. Ignatios of Antioch Melchite Catholic Church on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 11:15 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ignatios of Antioch Melchite Catholic Church, or to The Church of the Most Holy Trinity, both in Augusta, GA.
