Augusta, GA – Jane Ansley Stillwell of Evans, GA, entered into rest Sunday, September 29, 2013. She was 83 years old. She was born December 12, 1929 in Augusta, GA. She was the daughter of the late Hamilton Goss Ansley, MD and Dessie Kuhlke Ansley.
She grew up in Decatur, GA and graduated from Decatur Girls’ High School. She attended Ward Belmont College and Agnes Scott College. She was twice widowed. She was married first to Asa Stallworth, Jr. and lived in Augusta for a number of years where she was active in community affairs and a former member of the Junior League of Augusta. After being a widow for a number of years, she married John Stillwell, Jr. and moved to Atlanta. For the past 13 years, she has lived at Brandon Wilde, a Life Care Community in Evans, GA.
She is preceded in death by her brother: Hamilton G. Ansley, Jr. She is survived by her son: Asa Gray Stallworth (Michelle); grandchildren: Ashleigh Stallworth and Asa Thomas Stallworth all of Greenwood, SC; brother: Wiley S. Ansley III (Dona) of Atlanta, Ga; a number of nieces and nephews; and her loving companion and help mate, Julius T. Rucker, Jr., MD. The family is most grateful for the joyful and loving relationship. She was a woman of great faith and participated in the Companions Bible Study group with six ladies that were very dear to her. Also, the family is grateful for the wonderful staff at Brandon Wilde.
A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rob Watkins and Rev. John West officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a private burial where her remains will be laid to rest next to Asa Stallworth, Jr.
