Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, April 12, 2011, Mrs. W. Cason Bruker (Nee Jane Sanford) wife of the late W. Cason Bruker and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Davenport Sanford.
Mrs. Bruker lived her entire life in Augusta, GA. She graduated from Tubman High School and the University of Georgia with a BS in Home Economics and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
Graduating from the University of GA during the war she went to work at the Augusta Arsenal where she became a shift supervisor in the IBM section until her marriage to W. Cason Bruker in 1946.
Mrs. Bruker was a homemaker and active member of the First Baptist Church since 1929 where she taught Sunday School for many years. She served on Finance Committee, Committee on Committees, and Student Loan Committee. She was a member of the Lucy Wright Parker Missionary Group and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Mrs. Bruker Volunteered at Doctors Hospital since its founding where she was a life member with over 5000 hours. She was a member of the Pinnacle Club.
Family members include sons: Dr. William C. Bruker, Jr. and late wife Merritt of Aiken, SC, Davenport Sanford Bruker and wife Karen of Augusta, GA, grandchildren: the late Alison W. Bruker, William C. Bruker, III, Caroline E. Bruker, Colleen Sanford Bruker, Sarah H. Bruker and Camilla Hazelton; nephew: Ronald E. Corbitt of Dallas, TX; nieces: Mrs. Wayne Blount of Augusta, Mrs. Walter Perrin of Atlanta and Mrs. Wadley Findley of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church with Dr. C. Gregory DeLoach and Dr. R.J. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bobby Martin, Lombard Fortson, Terry Williams, Everette Morris, Jim Puryear, Dave Welter, Earnest Odum and Tony Atkins
Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Fund, c/o First Baptist Church of Augusta, PO Box 14489, Augusta, GA 30919. or to the Alison Bruker Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1302, Augusta, GA 30903.
