Augusta, GA – Jane Hatton Stewart, 11, of Augusta, GA died peacefully at home in the arms of her parents on January 9th, 2023. Jane was born on February 15th, 2011, in Birmingham, AL. Her parents made their home in Augusta later that same year and baptized Jane at Church of the Good Shepherd. Jane attended school at Apparo Academy.
From her first days, Jane bravely endured the limitations of her body and this world. In doing so she has been an inspiration to her family, friends, and community. Jane had a quiet grace about her, and through her eyes one could know God’s unconditional love. Jane loved music and was happiest being held by those who loved her.
Jane is survived by her parents, Mallory Stephenson Stewart and John Grayson Stewart; and by her two sisters, Lucy Grayson Stewart and Frances Eagle Stewart. She is also survived by her Grandparents, Trish and Tom Stephenson, Vera and Andy Kilpatrick, and Rita and Charles Stewart; by her Godparents, Natalie Stephenson Beckwith, and Catherine and Daniel Stewart; and by her Nanny, Barbara Dickerson. She is also survived by her loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service for Jane will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta, GA on Saturday, January 14th at 10 AM, followed immediately by an interment service in the churchyard. The family will greet guests in the Parish house following the interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane can be made to Apparo Academy or to the Children's Hospital of Georgia.
