Augusta, GA – Jane Hedges Vosseller, age 86, departed her earthly tent and was received by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025.
Jane was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and Marjorie Webster Junior Women’s College in Washington, D.C. Jane moved to New Jersey and lived there for many years, working at times as a schoolteacher, a bank employee, a service writer in a car dealership, and a salesperson in a baby products store. Her next move was to Pendleton, South Carolina where she later retired and enjoyed volunteer work and community involvement. Jane lived the remainder of her life in a care facility in Evans, Georgia.
Now Mom would have hated this kind of bland obituary! So, here’s a more vivid description: Jane was a joyful lady, with a cackling laugh, a strong faith, a love for people, and she drove like a NASCAR driver on a sugar high! She spent many years ministering to the poor in Plainfield NJ and surrounding areas by delivering donated furniture for them in her Ford Ranger pick-up truck. Jane proudly loved her son, absolutely adored her daughter-in-law and two grandsons. She made friends easily, talked to strangers regularly, and never took relationships for granted. Alzheimer’s stole so much from her in the final 8 years of her life, and even though she forgot the Lord, He did not forget her. We rejoice that Mom is now seeing her Savior face to face, hearing His voice declaring His love for her, and enjoying Him with eternal pleasures at His right hand.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert L. Hedges, Sr. and Katherine Pearce Hedges, her older brother, Herbert L. Hedges, Jr. and his wife, Mary Minier Hedges. She is survived by her son, David A. Vosseller and his wife Allegra J. Vosseller of Augusta, Georgia, two grandsons, Nathan and Matthew, nine nieces and nephews, and a great many friends.
Visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 17th at Lakemont Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 17th at Lakemont Presbyterian Church, the Rev. John Franks officiating.
The family will have a private graveside service.
