Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, February 05, 2014, Janie (Peggy) H. Evans, age 83.
A native of Augusta, GA, Ms. Evans retired in 1995 as the Charge Nurse at McDuffie County Health Department. She was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, read and was very active in her community. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Family members include sons: Dr. Stephen R. Mayfield (Erin), William C. Mayfield (Kathy), David B. Mayfield; and grandchildren: Joseph C. Mayfield and Jordon E. Mayfield. She is preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Molly Hillman; as well as siblings: Annie Laurie Swann, Buford Hillman, Preston Hillman; and special friend: Van Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 08, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Jim Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909 or to the CSRA Hearing Loss Association, 505 Henderson Drive, Augusta, GA 30909.
