Janie Riddick Mitchum

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, November 24, 2023, Janie Riddick Mitchum, 88, loving wife of 46 years to the late Herman Mitchum.

Janie was a longtime member of Warren Baptist Church for over 50 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Winn-Dixie for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and shopping trips. She was a very private, gracious, and generous person who was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Family members include her son: Larry Mitchum (Cindy); son-in-law: Randy Barnett; grandchildren: Paula Rhodes (Bill), Amanda Croutharmel (Tyler), and Mitch Barnett; great grandchildren: Corey Jones, McKenzie Jones, Emma Croutharmel, Randall Croutharmel, and Brantley Croutharmel; and sister: Edith Rae Flores. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Ethel Riddick, daughters, Wanda Barnett and Sherry Barnett, and siblings, Elizabeth Bass, Naomi Hunter, and Paul “Judd” Riddick.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Warren Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Marvin Hunter, Jr., Paul Riddick, Jr., Sean Flores, Bill Rhodes, Randall Croutharmel, Tyler Croutharmel, and Mitch Barnett.
