Jay Kennedy
Augusta, GA – Jack Bonds “Jay” Kennedy, Jr., 53, beloved husband of Kristin Hicks Kennedy, departed this earthly life and entered into his heavenly home on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at University Hospital. He was born on August 4, 1964 in Augusta, Georgia to Annette and Jack Kennedy.
Jay was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, attended Atlanta College of Art and Augusta College. He had been employed as a master goldsmith at Friedman’s, Windsor Jewelers and The Jewelers Bench.
Jay touched the lives of many as he gallantly fought stage 4 colorectal cancer for over three years with such bravery and courage. He had an intense love for music and art, played bass guitar and created art in many different mediums. “Uncle Frenchy” kept his nieces and nephews in stitches with his many antics and keen sense of humor.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alexandra and Shaun Hinson of Koloa, HI; three granddaughters, Isabella, Emma and Charlotte; two brothers, Jeff Kennedy (Mary) of Aiken, SC and Kevin Kennedy (Ale) of Pendleton, SC; in-laws, Debbie and Ben Jackson of Lincolnton, GA and Ling Feng and Bob Hicks of Augusta, GA; brother-in-law, Matthew Hicks (Abby) of Athens, GA; two nephews, Jackson Kennedy and Greyson Hicks; three nieces, Meghan Kennedy, Frannie Kennedy and Sydney Hicks; his beloved pet, B.B.; and a host of other family and friends.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew Rich and Rev. Robert Hunt officiating. Visitation will follow in the Narthex of the church.
