Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021, Mrs. Jean Marie Christenson, 78, wife of the late PSG Duane “Chris” R. Christenson (Ret.).

Jean Marie was a born during a very interesting time for this country. She was raised by Howard and Hazel Longcrier. At a very young age, she had a good spirit and helped raise her newborn nephew to the age of 5 when she was only 12 years old. Early on, she developed a strong will that would serve her well throughout her career and life. Jean Marie was a hard worker and always willing to share her knowledge with her coworkers. She was a patient teacher and always had a willing ear for the problems of others. Jean Marie found her soulmate in her husband, Duane Roland Christenson and the two were inseparable. Now, they are truly together for eternity.

Family members include her nephew: Richard Ray Wuitschick (Janis); niece: Laurene Marie Smith; 4 grandnieces and 6 great grandnieces and nephews; loving caregiver: Karola Glisson; and many other loving friends. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Teale, and parents, Howard Longcrier and Hazel Brown.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Roger Schwartz officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA.
