Martinez, GA – Mrs. Jean Creech Kelley, 76, entered into rest Sunday, May 17, 2009.
Jean Kelley was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area. She was a retired secretary for MCG and a member of Martinez Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her loving and generous nature. She was regarded as an excellent cook and took great pleasure in hosting birthday celebrations and entertaining family during the holidays. She also enjoyed playing card and board games with her friends and family.
Surviving family members include her son: George W. Kelley IV (Janet) of Evans; daughters: Suzanne Kelley Holmes (Lanse) of Lawrenceville, GA and June Kelley Laubinger (Richard) of Henderson, NV; sister Mary Francis Weathers (Jim) of Augusta; brother-in-law William Faulk of Augusta; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Faulk officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, May 20, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd, Augusta, GA 30907, (706) 364-8484. A guestbook may be signed on our website www.thomaspoteet.com
