Martinez, GA - Betty Jean Cuiry, 89, entered into rest peacefully on May 3, 2023 surrounded by family and the caring staff of Marshall Pines Assisted Living. She was born in Grovetown, Ga in 1933 to the late Guy Baxley and Martha Bell Huffman.
Jean started working at Ft. Gordon when she was only 17. After 42 years of service, she retired as a Budget Analyst in the Directive of Combat Development for the US Army Signal Center. Betty Jean was loved by everyone who knew her and her way of doing things. Her love for birds, sweets, coloring, good ole Elvis Presley, and her family were unmatched.
Betty Jean is survived by her two daughters: Marsha C. Chavous, Ann Marie (Ree) Pulliam; bonus daughter: Bonnie Hayes; grandchildren: Lauren Chavous (Jason), Matthew Pulliam (Cassy), Andrew Pulliam; great-grandchildren: Finley, Caylin, Grayson and Madison and her niece: Donna Moore. In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Cuiry; brother: Guy Huffman and sister: Martha Ann Shaw.
The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Dr. Roy Head, officiating.
