Jean Stencel
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, October 27, 2017, Mrs. Jean Mills Stencel, 75, loving wife of Dale F. Stencel.
Mrs. Stencel was a native of Prosperity, SC but has lived in Augusta most of her life. She retired after 34 years at Bellsouth. She was a member of The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity where she was a Eucharistic minister and usher. Jean had a strong faith in God and a servant heart. Her abundant joy and love of life captivated all those around her.
Family members, in addition to her husband, include her daughter: Debbie Chumley Brown; stepchildren: Scott Stencel (Shiela), Troy Stencel (Suzanne), Sheila Stencel, and Mark Stencel (Katie); grandchildren: Tyler, Caroline, and Jonathan Brown, Allison Renew, Haley, Marin, Logan, Bryce, Chandler, Anna, Barrett, Hayden, and Madison Stencel, Dalton Best; and great grandchildren: Katelynn Renew and Gavin Lundy; sisters: Elizabeth Longshore, Myra Hightower(Roscoe) and Joye Hawkins; Mrs. Stencel was predeceased by her parents: Johnnie and Lillie Mae Mills; brothers: James Lee Mills, Wyman Mills, Carol Mills, Derrill Mills and Wayne Mills: and sister: Mary Nell Neal.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sharad Ghamande along with all the residents and staff at Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University.
A funeral Mass will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Fr. Jacek Szuster celebrant. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Brown, Joe Renew, Steve Hightower, John Gordon, Scott Stencel, and Dalton Best.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 720 Telfair St, Augusta, GA 30901, or to the CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group, PO Box 3587, Augusta, GA 30904.
