Grovetown, GA – God took Mrs. Jean Thompson Gallagher on Monday, June 22, 2009. She was the wife of Robert James Gallagher.

Mrs. Gallagher was born in Trenton, SC, lived in Kiawah Island, and had resided in Grovetown for the past two years. She owned and operated “Jean’s Club” in Edgefield, SC; former manager at Persimmon Hill Country Club in Saluda, SC and manager at Pine Ridge Country Club in Edgefield. She was a member of the Senior Practice League of Brunswick Bowling Lane. She was the proud mother of two sons and was a great cook and homemaker.

Family members in addition to her husband include her son: John D. (John Boy) Long, Jr., and wife, Dena of Grovetown; stepchildren: Jean K. Gallagher, Robert C. Gallagher, Thomas J. Gallagher, Carole M. Gallagher; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Carolyn T. Rhinehart, Patricia A. Boatwright; brother: Rocky Miller and stepfather: Thomas L. Miller. Mrs. Gallagher was preceded in death by a son: Robert Lee (Robbie) Long.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Reverend Sonny Serigney officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Boatwright, Calvin Derrick, Tom Gallagher, Chucky Miller, Clayton Harris, Tony Derrick, Bob Gallagher, Richard Eskew, Anna Long and Kayce Harris. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
