Augusta, GA-Jeannette Sharp Nix of Athens, Georgia went to be with The Lord on Monday, August 29, 2011 in Augusta, Georgia, weeks before her 90th birthday. She was widow of Dr. Dillard Nix. Born in Commerce, Georgia, she studied at the University of Georgia and Mercer University. In Athens, she was on the board of directors for the East Georgia American Red Cross, was a charter member and very active Bible teacher at Beech Haven Baptist Church. She was loved and appreciated for her participation in the Beech Haven Choir, as well as her volunteer work in many ministries within the church and without. She exercised her ministry of hospitality to many Christian functions in her home, as well as serving many Christians in need within the community. Her greatest love her family, and she was a deeply devoted wife and mother.

She is survived her three children, by Margaret Nix Daniel of Augusta, Georgia, La Fayette Nix, and Lewis Nix, and by five grandchildren, Drew Daniel, Kate Vinyard, Kelly Nix, Shawn Nix, Casey Nix. She had five great grandchildren, Andrew Daniel, Baker Daniel, Anne Harper Daniel, James Vinyard and Katlin Vinyard.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach, Dr. Rodger Murchison and Dr. Jake Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, GA at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Stewart Simms officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the chapel at First Baptist Church.
