Jermiah Ray Allen

North Augusta, SC – Jermiah Ray Allen, affectionally known as ‘Poppa Hornet’ by the Aiken High School Boys Lacrosse Team passed away at his residence on the morning of Saturday, November 16th. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Patricia Kay Harman Allen, to whom he was married for 53 years. 

They are finally together again!

Ray worked from the age of 18 until his retirement at Georgia Natural Gas in Augusta. Over the years he coached many teams - Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball and his passion, Softball. He came to love the sport of Lacrosse and was a fixture at Aiken High School Lacrosse games where he cheered on his Grandson’s Hornets. Ray was truly one of a kind and could weave a tale that would leave you either scratching your head or laughing. Or both. He was loved by so, so many and never met a stranger. Ever. 

Family members include his daughters: Jennifer Sapp (Drew); Sherrie Miller Sapp (Jamie); Brother: Wayne Allen; Sisters: Thelma Liston; Wanda Mixon (deceased). His grandchildren, Zachary (Ashley), Joshua (Chelsi), Braden, Cadence, and Madison. Great Grandchildren: Paisley, Ella and Corbyn, Serenity, Ava and Paisley. And former son in law Thomas Miller (Christian). Also, his beloved dogs Dixie and Gotti.

The Family would like to personally thank the Staff (his girlfriends - just ask him) and Owners of McNeely’s Place Restaurant in North Augusta for the care, kindness, and the time you gave ‘Allen’. He loved you guys.
