Jerry Pardue
Augusta, GA – Dr. William Gerald Pardue, passed away Monday at University Hospital. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Watts and his staff for all their love and care.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Jerry was a native and lifelong resident of Richmond and Columbia County. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, earning an undergraduate, a Masters and a Specialist degree in Education.
Following his passion for education, he received a Doctorate in Education from the South Carolina State University and was a lifelong educator in the Richmond County School system. He taught History and Drivers Ed for 10 years at Tubman. He was assistant principal at Westside High and was Principal at National Hills Elementary for 25 years. He loved his students and faculty and was loved and respected by all those who knew him.
Jerry was voted “Young Educator in Georgia”. He was past president of the Richmond County Educators Association and was also a Regional Representative for the Georgia Association of Educators.
After retiring, he pursued a second career as an antique dealer. He enjoyed many hours looking for that next bargain. Jerry never liked to sit in one place too long.
Jerry was a dedicated and lifelong member of St. Mary’s on The Hill Catholic Church serving on the Worship Committee as well as other committees. He was a charter member of Westlake Country Club.
Jerry was a wonderful, caring person who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pardue Sr.; brother, Clyde Pardue Jr , sister, Shirley Jeans, aunt ,Mary Elizabeth Bartlett, and nephew Leonard Davis. He is survived by his beloved Teresa, his sister: Mary Nell Pardue Gay; nephews and nieces: James Gay Jr., Parks Chalmers Jeans III, Ellen Bradley, Angela Fielitz, Susan Pegram; special cousins: Joan Satcher, Ron Bartlett, Bubba Pardue and many other loved cousins of the Pardue and Bartlett family.
