Jesse D. Bowman, Jr.

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Mr. Jesse Doil Bowman, Jr., 73, loving husband of 50 years to Mrs. Debra Mason Bowman.

Jesse was a native of Augusta. He was an avid UGA fan and fisherman, enjoyed repurposing and repairing furniture, was a proud Vietnam Veteran and loved law enforcement. Jesse began his career in law enforcement at the Savannah River Site with Wackenhut, he continued with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Reserve law enforcement program. He worked for the City of Thomson Police Department, was Director of Public Safety for the City of Harlem and assisted the police department for the City of Lincolnton. Jesse was currently employed by the Columbia County Board of Education. Out of all of his hobbies and passions he loved his family the most.

Family members in addition to his wife Debra include his daughters: Kimberly Speering (Russell), Amy Genova (Salvatore); granddaughters: Sarah Speering and Kathryn Genova; sister: Linda Carbone; sister-in-law: Diane Connor and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Doil Bowman, Sr., and Vivian Black Bowman.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023, in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Barry Clanton officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Russell Speering, Salvatore Genova, Santino Genova, Donnie Connor, Jerome O’Connor and Jackson O’Connor. Honorary pallbearers will be any law enforcement officers current or former who worked with Jesse.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jesse to the Police Benevolent Foundation, 2155 Highway 42 South, McDonough, GA 30252.
