Jesse L. Meadows

Jesse L. Meadows, 92, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Kentwood Nursing Home.
Jesse was born October 08, 1930, in Offerman, GA to Campbell Charles “Jack” and Ella Louise Youngblood Meadows. The family moved to Augusta a few years later.
He was a doffer at Enterprise Mill for several years then was hired as a fireman in 1961 for the Augusta Fire Department. He retired from the fire department after 25 years of service in 1985 as a driver for the pump engine. He was stationed at Fire House #5. He had many good friends from those years of service.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ann H. Meadows. His three daughters, Pamela M. Boulineau (Tim), Amy M. Ingram (Richard) and Lisa M. Moore.
His living siblings, Connie M. Morris (Wayne), Campbell Charles “Doc” (Joyce), and Blanche M. Powell.
Jesse and Ann were always active in the lives of their grandchildren: Ben, Beth, Ricky, Jared, Matt and Candace and their great grands: Trevor Wallace, Oakley McNair, Betty Ann and Marlowe Moore and Ellie Ingram.
Jesse had part time jobs after retiring with his last being “Bag Boy” at Publix. Our family listened to many funny experiences while he was employed.
Jesse always had a gift for gab and a sense of humor, enjoying laughter and joking. He had a very generous, giving heart. He helped people financially throughout his life.
He and Ann traveled to many countries during his retirement years and met many friends. He especially enjoyed his beach pals in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
He was an active gym member until 2020. He had many friends from the gym who worked with him to keep him active.
He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church.
A very special thank you to all the nursing staff at Kentwood. The family sincerely appreciates all the care you gave our dad.
A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
