Martinez, Ga - Mrs. Jessica Watkins Goodwin, 94, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her residence after a long illness. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Walter Edward Goodwin, her precious son, Donald Wayne Pate, and her beloved granddaughter, Janet Pate Johnson.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Westover Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 with Dr. Gary C. Redding and Rev. Tim Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Thomas Poteet and Son.
She is survived by her loving daughter: Billye Goodwin Hansford, brother: T. B. Watkins (Sara), Grovetown, sister: Janice Watkins Brewer (John), Harlem, two granddaughters: Dana Pate McCormick (Paul), Tucson, AZ and Joy Pate Hill (Tim), Graceville, FL, 7 great grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Jackie, a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, was steadfast in her faith and love of God, regarding every day as a blessing. She was loving and courageous with a generous spirit and infectious laugh. She found peace and joy through her bible, family, flowers, and crocheting.
For their loving care to this sweet, gracious Christian lady, the family would like to thank Dave Trotter, Rosa Shipman, Shirley Gordon, Essie Mackie, the angels at Jud C. Hickey Center, Dr. William T. Neumann, Palliative Care and Hospice Care of Trinity Hospital.
