Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, April 15, 2011 after a brief illness, Mr. Jesus “Jesse” Aranda, 84, husband for 62 years of Elvia S. Aranda.

Mr. Aranda was born in Lagos de Moreno in Jalisco, Mexico. He immigrated to the United States in 1945. In 1948 he joined the U.S. Army and became a U.S. citizen. He served for 25 years; during which time he was stationed in numerous cities in both the United States and Europe. Mr. Aranda completed Two Tours in The Republic of Vietnam receiving numerous commendations and Two Bronze Stars for his service in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces. After retirement for the U.S. Army, he worked at Gracewood State School and Hospital for more than 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Hispanic-American Society. He enjoyed cooking, music, dancing and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Family members in addition to his wife include his 3 children: Joseph “Joey” Aranda and his wife Mary Ann, Pia Aranda Hagler and her husband Mike, Jimmy Aranda and his wife Melinda, of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Mary Kathryn Aranda McFarland and husband Jason of Athens, GA, Aaron J. Aranda, Michael B. Hagler, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Gould B. Hagler II, Emily A. Hagler, Amelia V. Aranda, of Charleston, SC, and Parker J. Aranda, of Charleston, SC; and great-grandchild, Tyler B. Hagler.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ragan and Rev. Edward Frank celebrants. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
