Aiken, SC- Jewell Amber “MeMe” Bridges, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 4, 2013.
MeMe was born in Lexington, NC. She was a beautician with an in home shop in Martinez, GA, which she ran for over thirty years of happy customers. She met, fell in love, with Charles Burnice ”Red” Bridges a WW II veteran with honorable service in the U.S. Army. They were married on Christmas Eve December 24, 1939 in Aiken, SC and celebrated forty-seven years of marriage before his death in 1986. The loving mother of two children, a son- Charles Stephen Bridges a radio personality in his adult life as Steve York with Beasley Broadcasting now deceased & daughter Lisa Ann Bridges Nelson a pharmacy technician with CVS. She is survived by grandchildren Charles Morgan Moore, Sargent U.S. Army Jesse Martin Moore, & Amber Marie Nelson, as well as, the families of Tom Neville, Tommy Neville, & Sandra Neville Ramage, great grandchildren Blake Martin Moore, Wesley Martin Moore, Layton Morgan Moore, & son in law Richard J. “Tray” Nelson, III.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at
