Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, August 12, 2012, Mr. James “Jim” H. Blackwell, Jr., 68, husband of Mrs. Tina C. Blackwell.

Mr. Blackwell was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a graduate of Academy of Richmond County and also served in the Army Reserves. He was a field supervisor with Sig Cox and member of the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union. An avid Raccoon hunter, Jim loved the outdoors. He coached Basketball for the Columbia County Recreation Department and was a member of the Executive Board for the Augusta Parkinson Group. Above all he was an active member of Abilene Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved children and they loved him – Jim’s home was always open to those in need.

Family members in addition to his wife include sons: James Bert Blackwell, Charlie Blackwell, David Blackwell, Jason Blackwell (Christy), Stephen Blackwell, all of Martinez; daughters: Lori Blackwell Brown (Tony), Lisa Blackwell Jones (Gregg) of Franklin, NC, Pat Brown (Danny), Barbara Freeman (Andy), Asure Grace of St. George, SC; 21 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and a sister: Patty Sue Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Rick Cook officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
