Jimmy Beazley

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on February 11, 2024, Mr. Jimmy Beazley, 79, loving husband of 53 years to Elizabeth Lee Beazley.

Jimmy was born on February 13, 1944 in Millen, GA but spent most of his life in Augusta. He was a 1962 graduate of The Academy of Richmond County and a graduate of Augusta College. He was a lifelong and active member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, where he was an usher for fifty years. In addition to being an usher, he was a deacon and a member of the Cason Bruker Sunday School Class. He was also instrumental in the repair of First Baptist’s bells. As a young man, Jimmy began a career in real estate, working for Trotter Realty Company for a number of years. Later, he began building homes with Regis Homes, Inc. and then with Bill Beazley Homes until his retirement. In 1990, he was the president of the Builders Association of Metro Augusta. He had a passion for being involved in helping to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. He also enjoyed serving as a member of the Columbia County School Board in 1993, and helping to make the schools and the community a better place for people to live. He loved spending time with his family and friends, being involved in woodworking, beautifying his yard and watching the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturdays in the fall. The highlight of his year was going to the beach every summer with his family as well as spending time together at the lake.

Family members include, in addition to his wife, his three daughters: Kathryn Durocher (Steven), Jennifer Trotter (Bill), Rebecca Sterner (Matt); grandchildren: Abigail, Steven and Kate Durocher, Bill, Jane and Julia Trotter, Brett, Anna, Molly and Brooks Sterner; siblings: Bill Beazley, Tom Beazley (Nancy), and Debra Beazley. He is predeceased by his parents, Billy and Mildred Beazley and his brother, Bobby Beazley.

Mr. Beazley's family extends their gratitude to Hospice Services of Georgia as well as Shirley and Adrianna Woodard for their tireless care.
