Jimmy Lee Hathcox entered into his final rest on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his home in Augusta, GA, surrounded by his family. Jimmy bravely fought Parkinson’s for 41 years. He was 70 years young.
He was born on July 31, 1953, in Aiken, SC to Troy Lee and Annie Maude Hathcox and moved to Augusta, GA shortly after. After graduating from the Academy of Richmond County, he married his high school sweetheart, Crystal Bray. In 1975 he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served four years active duty, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was also awarded the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. Jimmy served two years in the Reserves.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother in-laws. He was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Linda Calautti; and his brother, Tommy Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal; his two daughters, Jennifer and Jaclyn; his three grandchildren, Sydney, Ethan and Emma; his brother, Rudolph Scott (Jewel) of Saluda, SC; Brother-in-law, Mike Calautti; many nieces and nephews and their children; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Jimmy worked 30 plus years at Columbia Nitrogen and retired in 2008. His hobby was metal detecting and he loved hunting for Civil War artifacts in Georgia and South Carolina. He was a member of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, GA.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA, 30906.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
