Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, June 27, 2022, Dr. Jimpsey B. Johnson, Jr., 84, loving husband of Deborah Edmunds Johnson.

Jimpsey was a native of Augusta. After graduating from Boys Catholic High School, Jimpsey attended the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors. Jimpsey became a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society on June 3, 1960. Jimpsey then went on to attend the Medical College of Georgia receiving his Doctor of Medicine. Jimpsey was a Captain in the Army and served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967 where he earned two Bronze Stars. Upon returning from Vietnam, Jimpsey returned to Augusta and served the medical community at University Hospital with Brown Radiology and Associates until retirement in 2010.

Jimpsey was preceded in death by his father, Jimpsey “Burke” Johnson, Sr. and mother, Vivian Chew Johnson.

Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Jimpsey Burke Johnson, III (Rachel), Phil Johnson (Lena), Jenna Clay (Stuart); grandchildren: Haley Spires, Evan Johnson, Hunter Clay and Leigh Clay; and his sister: Nona Zimmerman.

A graveside service will be Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
