Joan Kampschror
Augusta, Ga. - Mrs. Joan S. Kampschror, 94, entered into rest at her residence Saturday, March 2, 2024, she was the loving wife of the late Darrell B. Kampschror.
Mrs. Kampschror was a native of Abilene, TX and has lived in Augusta since 1976. She was the daughter of the late G. Alan and Lois C. Shackelford and a was a member of Fleming Baptist Church of Augusta.
Family members include her daughter, Kaye McVey and husband, Tim; son, Kris Kampschror; grandchildren, Jackie McVey Scott (husband Bruce Jr.) and Richie McVey (wife Tracy); and great grandchildren: Kelsey and Taylor McVey.
After her marriage to Darrell in Lawton, OK in 1954, Joan began the life of a military wife with assignments to multiple duty stations including nine states and two countries (Ethiopia and Germany). They eventually settled in Augusta, GA in 1976.
Joan retired in 1992 after teaching sixteen years at Windsor Spring Elementary. She then became involved in numerous activities including china painting, teaching English as a second language, and she had an active church life.
Joan had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren . . . to them, she was Nana/Great-Nana.
For all who knew Joan, she will be deeply missed.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
