Augusta, GA – Mrs. Joanne Johnson Dekle, 81, peacefully entered into rest Monday, September 14, 2015. The service will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M in the Chapel at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Mrs. Dekle was born in Edgefield, SC to Ann and Joe Johnson. She made Augusta her home for herself and her family for the past 60 plus years.
Mrs. Dekle was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold V. Dekle. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was all about those in her family, her love and devotion to each one of them. Survivors include sons Larry Dekle (Lorie), Steve Dekle, daughters Carol Mulherin (Frank), Lynn Mann and her stepbrother, Joe Johnson. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and Charlie her beloved dog.
She had a great passion for art and was a superb dressmaker and an artist in creating porcelain dolls. She also loved her pets, and through the years always made sure there was a dog as part of the family.
In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way Ext., Augusta, GA 30909 or to the Augusta Humane Society, P.O. Box 12035, Augusta, GA 30914-2035.
The family will receive friends following the service in the gathering area outside the chapel.
