Joe A. Salaz
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, July 4, 2012, Mr. Joe A. Salaz, 84, husband of Mrs. Sandy Salaz.
Mr. Salaz was a member at Fleming Christian Church. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and two tours in Vietnam where he received the bronze star. He was proud to be an American. His brother and friends called him the “Karate Kid” and was also known as the “Candy Man” at his church.
Family members in addition to his wife include two brothers: Raymond Salaz of Ogden, UT, Ernie Romero of Denver, CO; sisters: Connie Moya of Reno, NV, Annie Cagle of MI, Millie Ellis of Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Chapalin Dexter Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Dr., Augusta, GA 30909.
