Joe Cuiry
Martinez, GA- US Army (Ret) Joseph “Joe” Cuiry, entered into rest on September 9, 2018 after a short illness. He was born in Taylor, Pa. in 1928 and was the son of the late Stephen Cuiry and the late Catherine Markovitch Cuiry.
The graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday September 29, 2018 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Father Michael Hull from St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and David Bryan, Care Pastor from Journey Community Church both officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
During his younger years he developed a love for golf and became a caddy in the Pocono Mountains. He was a member of Forest Hills Golf Club and Fort Gordon Golf Club. He joined the Army in 1947 and retired in 1968. He served two tours in Korea and several tours at Fort Gordon. He received the Korean Service Medal and 5 Bronze Stars during his service. After his retirement he attended Augusta Technical College and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Food Management. He managed several Pizza Huts in the Augusta area prior to retiring from the food Industry. He loved his family and was excited about the birth of his first great grandson due in October. Joe was a kind and gentle man who was loved deeply by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Betty H. (Jean) Cuiry, his daughters Marsha C. Chavous and Ann Marie (Ree) Pulliam, his Grandchildren Margo Lind, Lauren Chavous, Matthew Pulliam (Courtney), Andrew Pulliam and his great granddaughter Ashley Pulliam all of Martinez. His Brother, Nicholas Cuiry, Sisters Irene Palazzari and Jean Gravel. Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen Cuiry, John Cuiry, Peter Cuiry and his sister Ann Kaminski.
