Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, September 27, 2012, Mr. Joe N. Blackstock, Sr. 88, husband of Mrs. Sue H. Blackstock.
Mr. Blackstock was born in Sumner, GA. He retired as an Engineer from Southern Bell after 38 years of service. Mr. Blackstock served as a Deacon and an Elder in his church. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, playing bridge and spending time with his family. Mr. Blackstock enjoyed serving his Lord.
Family members in addition to his wife include: sons: Joe Blackstock, Jr. of Augusta, GA; David W. Blackstock, OD of Augusta, GA; grandchildren: Riali Lyons (Blake), Barrett and Brett Blackstock; great grandchild: McLean Lyons; sisters: Clydie Lowery, Jeanette Ivey, Geneva Miller (Ray); brothers: Ralph Blackstock (Betty), C.W. Blackstock (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Robert M. Watkins officiating. The body will lie in state beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary. Interment will be in Tifton, GA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3131 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
