John “Andy” Anderson

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, December 3, 2009 husband of the late Margaret Weaver.

Andy served as Sargent in the Air Force and had lived at Victory Point for the passed 4 years. He enjoyed helping his fellow Disabled Veterans. Andy always had a joke and The Last Laugh and his advice was “Never Take any Wooden Nickels”. He will be truly missed.

Family members include his daughters: Jeanne Thigpen Christy of Evans, GA, Lynn Thigpen Atkins and husband Harris of Hephzibah, GA, Shirley Phillips Cooper and husband Richard of Evans, GA; grandchildren: Brandon Christy, Robyn Christy Martin, Dr. James Warren Atkins, Dana Atkins Pettigrew, Benjamin Harris Atkins, Misty Atkins Lever, Rick Wright, Mechelle Wright Campbell, Gary Wright; great-grandchildren: Aria Martin, Emily Atkins, Abigail Atkins, Olivia Atkins, Baylee Pettigrew, Henslee Pettigrew, Shelby Pettigrew, Spencer Lever, Allison Lever, Bradley Wright, Crystal Wright, Taylor Wright, Brandon Wright and Micahel Campbell.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Chaplain Paul Schantz officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Christy, Harris Atkins,Dr. James Atkins, Ben Atkins, Mathew Lever and Graham Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be fellow Veterans and the staff of Victory Point.
