John Emanuel Bodie, III

Augusta, GA – Johnny, known by his family and lifelong friends, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, playing golf with his regular golfing buddies, who are considered a second family.

Johnny leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Betty “BB” Bodie; son: John Emanuel Bodie, IV (Brittany James), and granddaughter: Jameson, and grandson: John Emanuel Bodie, V. In addition, he leaves his brother, Jimmie Keith Bodie (Cookie), his nieces, Kim Roland (Phillip) and Tracy Johnson (Chris) and their children: Alyson (Gabe), Kinsey, Jake, Gracie, Jase, Jordan Ashley (Nicklas) and Gavin.

Johnny was a lifelong resident of Augusta and North Augusta. He grew up in the family business and like his father before him; along with his brother Jimmie, for over 60 years owned and operated John Bodie Sons, a downtown Augusta service station. Later they added the Huddle House and Bodie Auto and Repair. Most important to Johnny, and to his family, was that he was a loving husband and wonderful father.

Golf was a lifelong passion, and he loved the River Club Golf Course. The family thanks the employees at the River Club for taking such good care of him. Many thanks as well to his wonderful lifelong friends for being there when he needed them. Thank you, Lord.

The memorial service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Robbie Hendrick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, until 8:00 PM.
