Mr. John C. Groves
Appling, GA – John C. Groves, 69, beloved husband of Trudy G. Groves, passed away Tuesday evening, December 20, 2011, at his home in Appling, GA.
A native of Pineville, Louisiana, Mr. Groves graduated from Northwestern State University. He moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1969 and became Director of Student Activities at Augusta State University, a position he held for 35 years. Mr. Groves was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Groves is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. McDaniel, her husband Jamey and grandchildren, William, Sarah and John, and Suzanne L. McGowan and her husband Paul. He is survived by a brother James W. Groves and wife Shirley.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. David Keener officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, LA, at a later date. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 until 7:00P.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ the King Lutheran Church at 4232 Evans to Locks Road Evans, GA 30809-3600 or Samaritan’s Purse at P.O Box 3000, Boone. NC 28607
