John Cheatham, Ed. D

Augusta, GA- Doctor John Blackwell (Jack) Cheatham passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was a retired Army Special Forces officer, having served in the Philippine Islands, Germany, Viet Nam, Korea, Fort Bragg, NC and Fort Benning, Georgia. Dr. Cheatham received his commission at the US Army Infantry School and Center, graduating with honors. Dr. Cheatham education includes a B.S. degree from Campbell University, a B.A. degree from North Carolina State University, and M.A/ in Education Degree from East Carolina University. He received his Doctorate Degree in Adult Education from Nova University. A native of Macon, Georgia, Dr. Cheatham was the youngest of eight children of Elbert Hutchings Cheatham Sr. and Marjorie Lucille Cheatham. He was an active member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by three children, John B. Cheatham, Jr. (Samantha), Chip Cheatham, daughter Leslie Carole Branham (Thomas), one brother Robert P. Cheatham and seven grandchildren, Maggie Tetreault, Army Sergeant Joshua Tetreault (Jamie), Wesley Branham, Ansley Cheatham, Sophia Cheatham, Christopher Cash (Abby) and Mathew Cash; two great grandchildren Jacob and Jonathan.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
