John D. Scott
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Mr. John Dixon Scott, 87, loving husband of Barbara Bassford Scott.
Mr. Scott was a graduate of Richmond Academy. He served in the US Army in England, France, and Germany in WWII. He earned his degree in Pharmacy from University of Georgia. While at UGA, he was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity
He was the co-owner of Druid Park Pharmacy and Forest Hills Pharmacy with his friend and co-owner the late Gerald Hodges. Mr. Scott was a lifetime member of Sertoma Club and founder of Faith Discussion Class at St. Mark United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Georgia Pharmaceutical Association.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Beverly Major, Susan Waters and husband Philip; grandsons: Dustin Scott Major, John Taylor Major.
The family would like to thank the staff of the 4th floor at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Broome officiating. The family will receive friends following the church service.
