Augusta, GA – Retired maintenance mechanic, John D. Batchelor, Sr., 65, entered into rest Sunday, June 24, 2012 at University Hospital.
Mr. Batchelor was a native of Langley, SC and had lived in the Augusta area most of his life. He is the beloved husband of Katherine Wylds Batchelor.
He loved to fish, work on his car and do yard work.
Family members including his wife of 38 years; loving father of two daughters, Renee Michleski (T.J.) of Martinez, GA, Tracie Muza (Frank) of Graniteville, SC, ; four sons, Joshua Batchelor (Arica) of Augusta, GA, Dennis Batchelor of Graniteville, SC, Michael Batchelor of Columbia, SC, and Bobby Crawley (Wendy) of North Augusta, SC. Additional survivors include fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by grandparents Otto and Annie Kaney and brother Eddie Batchelor. Son of Ollie and Thelma Cain.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Thomas Healy celebrant. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joshua Batchelor, T.J. Michleski, Travis Barefield, Brandon Batchelor, Hunter Crawley, John Michael Cain, Paul Cain and Sean Free.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at
