Mr. John E. Chumley
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, August 31, 2011, Mr. John Chumley, 86, husband of Mrs. Judy Benfield Chumley.
Mr. Chumley was a native of Little Rock, AR and resided in Augusta. He served in the Navy on the USS Guam as a radio man during WWII. Mr. Chumley retired from Colonial Baking Company as a route salesman after 42 years. He was a member of AMBUCS. Mr. Chumley was an avid fisherman who loved taking his family and friends, along with his dog Jaycee to Low Country. He also loved to spend time in his garden and cooking. GONE FISHIN’!
Family members in addition to his wife include: sons, Tom Edwin Chumley of Augusta and Brian Clark of Evans, daughters, Martha Mantlow (Benny) of Dacula, Cindy Anderson (Aaron) of Lincolnton, Debbie Brown of Evans, Pam Ward (Frank) of Evans, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Mr. John A. and Mrs. Martha Stein Chumley.
