Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, February 21, 2013, Mr. John H. Ferrell, Jr., 86, husband of 57 years to the late Helen F. Ferrell.
Mr. Ferrell, born in Concord, FL, was a forty-eight year resident of Augusta, GA. John proudly served in the United States Army Signal Corps for twenty-two years. After retirement, he worked as a civil service communications instructor for Fort Gordon until 1985. He was a Methodist and enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and camping.
Family members include his sons: David Ferrell (Paige), James Ferrell (Teri), Douglas Ferrell (Brenda), Scott Ferrell; daughters: Colleen Cain (Clint), Michelle Richards (Pat), Alice Broome (Jim); and 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sisters: Mildred Laing, Catherine Bryne. He was preceded in death by brothers: Kenneth, Clarence, John Branklin; and sister: Margaurite.
The family will receive family and friends Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.
