Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, August 13, 2020, Mr. John Charles Mullen, 85, loving husband of Becky L. Mullen.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: John S. Mullen, Michael Blair, Brandon Blair, and Jay Blair; grandsons: Dalton Mullen, Brett Blair, and Austin Blair; granddaughters: Ashley Mullen, Megan Blair, and Kristina Blair; brothers and sisters: Margaret Ramann, Mary Murphy, James Mullen, Jeremiah Mullen, Katherine Sweder, Theresa O’Neill, William Mullen, Vincent Mullen, David Mullen, Michael Mullen, and Tina Iseldyke.
In his retirement, John served as the loving caregiver to his wife following her cardiac arrest and stroke. He served 3 years in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division. With 40 years in the trucking industry in a wide variety of roles he was a known activist on behalf of the independent truckers and drivers. In 1974 he was credited with obtaining hearings before the House of Small Business Committee where he gave testimony over a two-year period. Shortly afterward he testified before the Senate Anti-Trust Committee.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
