Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, February 17, 2024, Retired Officer John Mark Pencille Sr., age 59.
John was born November 11, 1964, in Lockport, New York to the late John Bismark Pencille and Elizabeth Ann Ruschmann Pencille. The second oldest of six children, John was a graduate of Lockport Senior High School and later attended Niagara Community College. He moved to Augusta, GA in 1992 and later joined St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
John saw the need to serve and protect his family and community, so he joined Richmond County Police Department in 1992. In this role Officer John Mark Pencille Sr. served for twenty-eight years until he retired in December of 2020. John was a thoughtful, honest, humorous, dependable, kind and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, co-worker, and neighbor to all he met. His infectious smile, laughter, heartfelt hugs, and precious memories shared with family and friends will never be forgotten.
Those who will be most profoundly deprived of the warmth of his personality and the strength of his noble character include: devoted wife: Dr. Lilian Belole Motia Pencille; his four heart beats to carry on his legacy: Heaven Belole Pencille, Trinity Belole Pencille, John Mark Pencille II and Ethan Mark Pencille; loving mother: Elizabeth Ann Ruschmann Pencille; his siblings: Susan M. Pencille (Randy Boatwright), Patricia A. Pencille Haist (David), Joseph Pencille (Rita), Donald Pencille (Kristine) And Kevin Pencille (Sarah) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his father, John Bismark Pencille.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Solomon Kaanan as celebrant. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. A rosary will be said prior to the service in the Day Chapel at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church at 10:15 A.M.
