John M. Smith, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, August 11, 2016, Mr. John “Trapper” M. Smith, Jr., 80, loving husband of Connie Smith.
Mr. Smith was an active member of Church of the Atonement for 25 years. He retired from General Chemical Corporation as a welder and fitter. Mr. Smith was an avid outdoor enthusiast /trapper/fisherman/botanist.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Patty Shingledecker (Mike) of Stoneboro, PA; sons: Tim Smith of Cranberry, PA, Ted Smith of Oil City, PA, and David Smith of Augusta, GA; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister: Judy Collingwood. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael A. Shingledecker.
A memorial service will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Church of the Atonement with the Rev. Dr. Kurt Miller officiating. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall following the service.
