Evans, GA – John L Spurlock went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 19,2021. John L. Spurlock was a loving and devoted husband of 43 years to Kim Livingston Spurlock, loving father of 11 and adoring Poppa to 16 grandchildren.
John was born and raised in Hanahan, SC, son of Cecil and Virginia Spurlock. He graduated in 1977 from Hanahan High School and attended Charleston Southern University. He was currently employed with and was a dedicated employee of Estes Express. He spent 7 years in Christian Education and coaching Varsity Basketball and Baseball at Curtis Baptist School. He then spent 5 years coaching Varsity Basketball at Wardlaw Academy. He started coaching varsity girls this year at Westminster Schools of Augusta. One of his greatest joys was investing in the students and the families of the students he had. John always put God first in all did and lived a life that exemplified Jesus. He was an amazing example of Jesus to the players he coached.
His greatest love was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of children:
Adam (Katie) Spurlock and children, Brayden, Emmory and Titus; Amber (Jayson) Lacy and children Isabella Ramp, Sadie Ramp, Max Lacy, Finn Lacy; Alex (Allie) Spurlock, Savannah and Preston; Austin Spurlock; Andrew (Meagan), Beckham; Aaron (Andrea) Spurlock, Harper and Eden; Alyssa (Justin) Cabit, Shiloh and Kollyns; Abbie Spurlock; Anna Grace Spurlock; Avery Spurlock, and Aimee Spurlock. A brother, David (Susan) Spurlock. Two brothers-in-law, Rocky (Pam) Livingston and Jason (Jenny) Livingston and 4 nephews, a niece and 2 great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life for John will be held Monday, August 23 at TrueNorth Church, 297 W. Martintown Rd. North Augusta, SC Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:30. Service begins at 5:00pm. The service will be live-streamed from TrueNorth Church.
There will be room for visitors to practice social distancing and masks will available.
