Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, June 10, 2011, Mr. Johnnie McMillan Huffman, 86, husband of the late Elsie Farmer Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was affectionately known as “DaDa”. He was born on July 26, 1924 to Harvey Lee and Ruby Huffman. Mr. Huffman proudly served his country during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and also during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA and moved to Martinez, GA in 1974. Mr. Huffman was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Local 150 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, George Walton Masonic Lodge and also American Legion Post 63. One of his favorite things was camping in the mountains with his four brothers.
Family members include daughter: Shirley Osborn (Wayne), grandchildren: John Osborn (Joy) and Jason Osborn (Aprile), seven great-grandchildren: Colby, Corben, Madison, Julia, Jed, Alli Anne and Baird Osborn, brother: Stanley Huffman (Brenda), sisters: Dorothy Holden, Naoma Dunn (Charles) and Connie Holsonbake. Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Harvey Huffman, James Huffman, Jack Huffman and sister: Fannie Mae Gay.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Huffman, Steve Huffman, Buddy Marks, Craig Osborn, Derek Partridge and John Partridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 1904 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30904 or to the charity of choice.
