AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Saturday, April 4, 2009, at University hospital, Johnny Michael Smith, 57, of Augusta.
Mr. Smith was a native of Newnan, GA and spent most of his life in Augusta. He was a long time electrical salesman. Mr. Smith was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan and loved the Masters. He never met a stranger. His son said he was one of the funniest guys he ever met and could always count on him. Mr. Smith enjoyed working with the elderly at The Maid Your Day, Inc.
Family members his son: Trey Smith of Augusta; stepdaughter: Angie Griffin, step-granddaughter: Madelyn Griffin, both of Harlem; longtime companion: Patricia Blythe of North Augusta; parents: Phillip Hoover of Augusta, the late Carolyn Hoover and the late Jessie T. Smith; brother: Jeff Smith and wife Carol of Evans; sister: Kay Cook and husband Charles of Appling and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Thomas Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Trey’s close friends whom Johnny thought of as sons.
